In India, doctors usually prescribe the medicines by brand name and not by the generics (ingredients). Hence we often end up paying more money for the same medicine.

In 2007, “www.medguideindia.com” was launched, which provides following information to all it’s consumers free of any charge: About the drugs, their composition and comparative prices of various brands of the same composition, manufactured or marketed in India by various pharmaceutical companies.
